A few days ago, there was a lice check in my daughters elementary school.
So far, so good in the lice department…thank you!!
Anyhoo…
It was a pop lice check…like a pop quiz.
The kids were lined up. Each head was checked. One by one. Until the last little head was given the thumbs up.
No lice.
BUUUUUUTTTTTTT…
My friends daughter goes home. She mentions to her mom that there was a lice check at school. And the woman who checked her head…and checked her entire classes head…used the SAME GLOVES!!
OK…gross.
So, my friend writes an email to the Principal…
Hi Mr. Principal.
I received a letter home today regarding lice.
Tonight, A shared with me that she had her head checked a couple
of days ago. She went on further to tell me that E’s mom checked
her head with the same gloves she used to check all her classmates with.
A said that E’s mom used her fingers to check her head…not
a straw…her fingers and the same gloves for all the students in the
class!!!
We called a couple more classmates to make sure their stories matched
and they did!
Is this proper procedure? It seems as though not changing gloves would
promote spreading of the lice.

Fair enough letter, right? I mean, why wouldn’t this woman, just to be on the safe side, change her gloves. They are those latex kind. CHEAP, right? Easily replaced. Just to be safe…right?

good morning–not being a medical person i will have to check–i know they can not be transmitted with the gloves.
i will check with the school nurse.
there seems to be too many different versions of what is acceptable practice, so i will check and get back to you.

This man is running the school that MY daughter goes to.
What kind of fricking answer is that?
And…
do you think he’s gotten back to her?
NOPE!
Disgusting.
Annoying.
And I’m thinking that he should stand in line with those kids and get his hair checked for lice by those VERY SAME gloves.
